WHAT RESONATES: I left my family behind and immigrated to the US when I was just 18 years old, and I faced several hardships, from racism to lack of mentorship and resources. With Canada hosting so many new immigrants from South Asia, I think WQT can be a valuable resource for a future generation of immigrants

I am a 24-year-old full time student in Quebec’s college system, studying accounting, horticulture and landscaping. I’m a French-Malian citizen, I have the double nationalities and was brought up by two different cultures. My education was fully made in the French system, thus at the end of my schooling I have obtained a college degree in Economy and social science and then continued studying in this field by joining an accounting program at collège Montmorency in Canada in Montréal in the city of Laval, and currently started studying horticulture and landscaping in the same college. Since childhood I have traveled a lot around the world, which cultivated in me the curiosity and will to learn about cultures and languages. I understand and fluently speak at least four languages (French, Bambara, English and Spanish) and started learning Turkish.
Since arriving in Montréal, I have been volunteering with many organisms in the city and in my community:

  • Helped at the kitchen of Old Brewery (https://www.missionoldbrewery.ca/fr/)
  •  Les petit Frères/ Little Brothers (https://littlebrothers.ca/)
CABBC – CENTRE D’ACTION BÉNÉVOLE BORDEAUX-CARTIERVILLE (I live in the neighborhood of Bordeaux-Cartierville and am volunteering in CABBC which is a neighborhood organization (https://www.cabbc.org/)
